Finding Your Gate Measurement
Finding your gate measurement and the correct location of your concrete piles for your gate is easy. Simply take the overall width of your opening/gate and add exactly 1' to the length of your gate. It's as simple as that. So if you ordering a 16' wide gate all you do is add exactly 1' to your gate width to find out how far apart you need to place your piles. So your pile placement on this particular example would be 17' centre to centre of your concrete piles. The piles will need to be 6' - 8' deep (12" diameter) depending on the soil and reinforced with 2 lengths of 10mm rebar and they have to be dead centre of the piling so you don't hit them with a hammer drill when installing your gate. As for the pile head caps, they need to be 14" x 14" x 8" deep in order for your gate to be properly installed (see link below). The piles need to be in-line with each other and level with each other as well. The concrete piles will also be level with the surface of your driveway. After you receive your gate all you have to do is simply use a concrete hammer drill to fasten your gates to your already poured and set concrete piles.
